About the Artist

Ward Hooper creates, produces and markets his own series of art from his studio and gallery in Boise, Idaho. He draws inspiration from American illustrators of the 19th and 20th centuries as well as historical references. Ward’s point of reference for all of his work is to portray the subject as if he were seeing it for the first time. He received his BFA from Boise State University. Before establishing himself as an independent artist Ward worked in the Northwest as a graphic designer and illustrator.  He has been the recipient of multiple awards including the Mayor’s Award for Excellence, Boise State Alumni Association’s President’s Service Award, Idaho Statesman’s Best of Treasure Valley and Boise Weekly’s Best of Boise. Ward has also been awarded many public arts grants enabling him to serve the community as an artist ambassador through the creation of public art installations. He has also been commissioned for an expansive list of art installations, designs and illustrations by scientific, commercial, entertainment and charitable organizations.
